Virtual Kid's Birthday Parties

Who said, "Virtual birthday parties can't be fun?" Not Finn! His day started out exceptionally early in his back yard filled with balloons, signs, presents, cupcakes, and let us not forget the "Happy Birthday" chalk drawings all over the ground. You see, this day he turned four years old and this day will not be forgotten. There were video chats sprinkled throughout the day with friends and family taking part in the excitement of watching Finn blow out his candles, open his presents and reveal his newly appointed finger ready to count past three. It was a long day for the birthday boy and it was reported he slept soundly that night, along with his parents...Zzzz...!

A Perfect Kid's Gift

She liked it! She really liked the gift I gave her. I believe I was more excited than my granddaughter.
Unless I'm given the exact spelling of what my grandkids want, I'm at a loss.  It turns into one big guessing game. I find myself asking store clerks for advice. (Actually begging for advice.)
When the time comes to give my gift, I'm sure to attach the receipt, apologize as it's being opened, and usually have some cookies waiting in the wings. But this time was different. Katie's response was immediate. No receipt or apology was necessary. It was love at first sight. She adores drawing anywhere, anytime. This sweet "Pipity", oil-clothed tote, opened up to all the accessories needed to bring her ideas to life. With an easel, pockets and a shoulder strap, this little honey was ready to get to work at home, in the car, or even at Bubbie's house.

Katie is One!

Let there be cake! A special birthday cake, that Katie gets to smash, smear, eat and play with all she wants on her special day! And there was, and she did, all over herself and anyone and anything within reach of her high chair!  I think the grown-ups had as much fun watching this mash-up, as Katie had doing the mashing!
First Birthday Smash Cakes seem to be the thing to do today. Who knew?
Happy Birthday, Katie...hugs and more hugs, Bubbie

Neighborhood Birthday Parties

Brightly colored balloons hung from most of the trees surrounding the decorated party tables. Of course, this was the first thing Jude noticed as he entered Alisa's birthday party. Jude assumed these balloons were waiting for him, and he quickly pointed to the one he had to have...the "bue" one!  With kindness and compliance, a grown-up hand-picked Jude's choice and found the line quickly building behind him, as the other party guests followed suit.  Aside from dismantling the balloon clusters early on, and having to hold everyone back from blowing out the candles, except for the birthday girl, it was a great time for all. Oh, and Jude did walk away with the "messiest cake face" award!  Way to go, Jude!
With many happy cake days to come,

Birthday Parties!

There's not a whole lot that can top a "bounce house" for a two year old's birthday party. (Not in Jude's mind, anyway.)  As long as you have a big enough back yard, or a park to set them up in...you are good to go!  These outdoor playgyms are incredibly fun for the kids, as well as the few brave adults pulled in by their apprehensive toddlers. Closest thing to this that I got to do as a kid was to bounce on the sofa or bed.  And we didn't have the encouragement of our parents standing by, cheering us on.  It was more like, "if I catch you jumping on that sofa one more time.........!"(you know the rest).  Ahh, the good "new" days!
Happy Birthday, Jude!
Love,
Bubbie
